Yesterday afternoon, after travelling 1600 kms across Western Australia's northern coast, I lost control of my car. Just 80kms outside South Hedland, it rolled off the road three or four times before landing upside down. I don't know how I escaped serious injury.

When I finally got home, I couldn't understand why people were giving me strange stares. Then I looked in the mirror.
It goes without saying I'm somewhat mentally and physically exhausted. Will be back blogging soon.

how fast were you going?
110 - at the speed limit. I blew a tyre. Old car, almost 2000kms of driving in 6 days!
Ah yes, of course. I remember reading you mention that somewhere. Man that must be tough. I found it difficult enough having a relationship between Sydney and Canberra. Be strong Vasco!
Re car crash: I know, I know. I guess the car, and my stamina, simply wore out. I checked the car out before I left. (Sob) I'll miss that little battler of a car. Learnt to drive in that car and it had done close to 300,000kms. Very lucky to be unscathed. All my work colleagues have been so sweet, ringing up and offering to drive me places, get my groceries etc. I only got home because 5 different cars stopped and offered me a lift. A lot of good people out in the country despite the regular friction between black and white people. What a strange, wonderful place it is.
Duuuuude! You made it out alive! Great! Thank God!
Thanks Knightmare. I know, incredibly lucky. Even my glasses remained intact. I should probably go buy a bunch of lottery tickets.
Haha Chinese Girl. Yeah that'd be right. Generally speaking, people from the communities I visit ask a lot of questions about Pakistan and Islam. Donny (whom I took a photo of earlier), one of the ALOs, calls me Pakoriginal. I think it helps being an ethnic male. Get called brother boy a lot so life is good.
Glad your OK.
Holy Crapadoolie! I probably should have mentioned that shit cars and the great North-West don't mix.
That's why I've never owned a car. Those things are dangerous man! My sturdy Teutonic motorbike has never done anything like that. Yet...
Very glad you are OK, despite appearing to have become ...fossilised or something.
.
Thanks people :-D
